Public Consultation
Throughout the pre-planning process, the public was consulted with and informed. Several changes to the development proposals were made as a direct result of the comments received.
Details of each period of focused public consultation, and the feedback received, were published in dedicated reports.
A public and stakeholder participation report was prepared and submitted as part of the planning application to An Bord Pleanála in 2018.
Uisce Éireann is committed to ongoing engagement with all interested stakeholders and the project team continues to welcome questions, comments or observations so please continue to contact us via greaterdublindrainage@water.ie or 0818 44 55 67.
Wastewater Discharge licence
As part of the overall GDD Project consenting process, Uisce Éireann applied to the Environmentral Protecion Agency (EPA) for a wastewater discharge licence for the area served by the GDD Project. This proposed catchment is called the North Dublin Agglomeration. The wastewater discharge licence L application for the GDD Project covers the discharge of treated effluent at the proposed discharge location, 1 km north-east of Ireland’s Eye, along with assessments of the existing network, including existing stormwater and emergency overflows.
Given the scale of the GDD Project and its significant catchment area, the application for a WWDL is supported by a full environmental impact assessment report (EIAR). All documentation in respect of the wastewater discharge licence application is available on the EPA website. Interested parties can submit written observations or submissions in relation to the application or the accompanying environmental impact assessment report (EIAR) to the EPA via its website, or at its headquarters at P.O. Box 3000, Johnstown Castle Estate, Co. Wexford.
