Water supply is returning to normal levels in Ballinasloe and the surrounding areas after the successful repair of a water main which burst this morning.

Uisce Éireann operational crews reacted quickly to find and repair the burst on the main, which had caused some supply disruptions for approximately 1,000 homes and businesses in Ballinasloe town, Creagh, Parkmore, and surrounding areas.

The repairs were completed at approximately 1pm and supply levels in the area are currently returning to normal.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to some customers as the system recharges.

Ger Greally of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their cooperation while repairs were underway.

“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by unplanned outages and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out,” Ger said.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
