Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

As Summer nears, the community of Portlaw can look forward to improved water quality and a more reliable water supply as Uisce Éireann completes two major upgrades, replacing over 2.7 kilometres of old and damaged watermains with new, modern pipes.

This work will also secure the towns water supply for years to come and significantly reduce leaks.
The first stage of the works saw the replacement of 552 meters of old mains between Brown Street and Priest Street.

It also involved the decommissioning of 267 meters of old mains, with residents transferred to the new watermain and lead services replaced.
The second stage of the works involved the replacement of 2.2 kilometres of watermains along Connolly Road, Carrick Road and Priests Road, including new water service connections from the public watermain to customers water supply.
Highlighting the significance of these upgrades, Dave Murphy, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann said, “We are delighted to have completed the works that are now benefitting homes and businesses in Portlaw".

“These essential mains upgrades will improve water quality, reduce leakage and eliminate the challenges associated with old watermains resulting in a positive impact on leakage and the daily lives of the residents of Portlaw”

Dave added, “On behalf of Uisce Éireann, I would like to thank the people of Portlaw for their patience and cooperation while we developed a solution to the supply challenges and also during delivery of these essential works.”

Speaking following the completion works Councillor Declan Clune who is from Portlaw said that the significant investment was very welcome in the town. I‘d like to thank Uisce Éireann for their investment in Portlaw.

“The replacement of over 2.7 Kilometeres of aged water mains with new pipes marks a significant milestone for the community.  Reliable infrastructure is critical to the future of towns like Portlaw and this investment will bring lasting benefits to the local community.”
