Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

The road to a more reliable water supply is in sight for  Alva, Creegh, Co Clare with  Uisce Éireann crews set to arrive next week, making it their mission to revive the water supply in the charming village area.

These works will take place along the R483, Alva, Creegh, Co Clare and involve the replacement of 800m of aged water mains prone to bursts as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

Jack Cronin, Uisce Éireann programme manager, is eager to get to work in the area, and deliver great benefits for the community.

“Leakage reduction remains a notable priority for the banner county and replacing these old water mains that are in poor condition will ensure a more sustainable water supply, eliminate existing leaks, and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground, protecting our most precious resource. We would like to thank the local community for their support and patience in advance as we carry out these essential works”

To safely and efficiently deliver the project, traffic management will be in place in the form of traffic lights along the R483, Alva, Creegh, Co Clare.

Ward and Burke Construction Ltd is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann with the project expected to be complete by the end of summer 2025.

Identifying and repairing these leaks will help Uisce Éireann to achieve our 2030 goal of a national leakage rate of 25%. The national Leakage Reduction team has made great strides since 2018 when the leakage rate stood at 46%.
