Works underway to restore supply to consumers in North Carlow and South Kildare

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

The water supply is returning to normal levels after Uisce Éireann crews successfully completed repairs to a burst water main that impacted customers in North Carlow and South Kildare.

The repairs were necessary due to a significant burst in the water main that supplies Rathvilly, Bough, Cuckoo Corner, Slaney Bank, Ricketstown, and surrounding areas in Co. Carlow, as well as Castledermot, Moone, and Timolin, and surrounding areas in South Kildare.

Jim Fitzgerald, Uisce Éireann’s Regional Operations Manager, stated, “Our crews returned onsite in the early hours of the morning to finalise repairs. Normal water supply has been restored for the majority of customers; however, those at the end of the network may experience a delay as the network recharges. I want to thank the community for their continued patience and urge everyone to conserve water as the supply returns.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct communications regarding both planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann is working to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in North Carlow and South Kildare following a large burst on a water main. The areas affected are Rathvilly, Bough, Cuckoo Corner, Slaney Bank, Ricketstown and surrounding areas in Co. Carlow and Castledermot, Moone and Timolin and surrounding areas in South Kildare.

Uisce Éireann’s Jim Fitzgerald has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore full water supply as quickly as possible.

“The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible but are complex due to the location and size of the burst. We understand the inconvenience an unplanned outage can have on our customers and appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible."

Every effort is being made to reduce the impact on homes and businesses and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

Repairs are expected to be completed by 4 pm tomorrow afternoon, Friday, 27 June, and it may take two to three hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by this unplanned outage.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
