Water supply returning for customers in Ballyrichard, Tipperary

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann has restored normal water supply to homes and businesses in Ballyrichard after a burst water main caused an interruption to supply earlier today. The areas affected by the burst included in Ballyrichard, Kyle, Ballydonnell, The Islands, Mohober, Drangan and surrounding areas in Co. Tipperary.

Following repair works, it typically takes three to four hours for the regular supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Uisce Éireann’s Operations Manager, Pierce Faherty said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while crews worked to restore supply to impacted areas.”

Homes and businesses in the affected areas may experience water pressure, temporary water discolouration or intermittent disruptions to the water supply as the network recharges.

Vulnerable customers registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. We understand the inconvenience an unplanned outage can have on our customers and appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible.”

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.

Once water is restored, customers may experience temporary discolouration as the network refills. If this occurs, Uisce Éireann recommends running the cold kitchen tap until the water runs clear.
