Water supply in Trim due to return tomorrow morning
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Normal water supply is expected to return to Trim and surrounding areas by 9am tomorrow, Wednesday, as the water level in the local reservoir continues to recover.
Disruption to supply will continue tonight following an overnight mechanical issue at Trim water treatment plant that depleted the reservoir level.
Customers in the following areas will continue to experience disruptions this evening: Trim, Rathmolyon, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown, Effernock, Carberstown, Clonbun, Blackfriary, Crowpark, Summerhill and surrounding areas, however normal supply should return tomorrow morning.
Michael Cunniffe, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, again thanked customers for their patience and cooperation while the essential repair work was being carried out.
"Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by an unplanned interruption to the water supply. The reservoir is now recharging and supply should return to normal tomorrow morning. It may take a number of hours for the full supply to be restored for customers on higher ground and at the end of the network."

Previous Updates
Residents in Trim and surrounding areas can anticipate widespread ongoing disruptions to their water supply today and tomorrow following a mechanical issue at Trim water treatment plant overnight that has seriously depleted the reservoir level.
Uisce Éireann is working to repair the fault but local residents will experience disruption to their supply as the reservoir level recovers and the network refills.
Customers in the following areas will experience outages: Trim, Rathmolyon, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown, Effernock, Carberstown, Clonbun, Blackfriary, Crowpark, Summerhill and surrounding areas.
An alternative water supply will be located at Lidl and Trim County Council Offices, Summerhill Road and in Summerhill beside the Church Car Park until 9am on 18 September.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and, as a precaution, boil the water before drinking.
Michael Cunniffe, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, stated, "Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by an unplanned interruption to the water supply and sincerely thanks our customers for their patience and cooperation while the essential repair work is carried out and the reservoir recharges."
Úisce Eireann makes every effort to ensure that the alternative drinking water supply provided, including the tanker/bowser, and dispensing tap, are adequately disinfected. However, as it is not practical to provide sterilised containers for the public to transport drinking water from the tanker to their homes, we cannot guarantee that any containers used by the public do not negatively impact or contaminate the drinking water.
