Water supply returning in Taghmon after successful mains repair

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Normal water supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Taghmon following the successful repair of a complex burst water main which had caused an interruption to local homes and businesses.

While the burst is repaired and the network is refilling, full supply is not expected to return to all customers until 6pm.

Alternative water supplies in the forms of alternative water sources will remain in place in the residential areas of the village as well as at the Taghmon Camross GAA Club grounds.

Customers are reminded to bring their own containers when drawing water from the tanker, and to boil the water before use as a precautionary measure. Great care should be taken with boiled water to avoid burns and scalds as accidents can easily happen, especially with children.

Padraig Lyng of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their understanding while these repair works were being carried out. “Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by an unplanned interruption. We wish to thank customers in the area for their patience while these repairs were underway.”

Previous Update

Alternative water supplies are being provided for Uisce Éireann customers in Taghmon, Co Wexford whose supply has been impacted by a burst water main this evening.

Customers in Taghmon may be experiencing intermittent outages or other supply disruptions this evening as a result of this burst.
Repairs on the burst main are expected to be completed by approximately 2pm tomorrow (Thursday).

Alternative water supplies in the forms of IBCs have been deployed to the residential areas of the village while a water tanker is also available at the Taghmon Camross GAA Club grounds.

Padraig Lyng, Uisce Éireann Water Network Operations Manager, thanked impacted customers for their understanding while repairs to the burst main are ongoing.

We acknowledge the impact of unplanned outages for our customers, particularly in warm weather,” said Padraig. “We have made alternative supplies available for impacted customers, and we thank affected homes and businesses for their understanding while we work to restore normal supply.”

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
