Water production has resumed at the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant which supplies the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water production has resumed at the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant which supplies the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply.
Water is being restored to 11,500 homes and businesses in South Tipperary who experienced outages following high turbidity levels at the plant.
The Water Treatment Plant is operating normally, however treated water reservoirs are empty as a result of the outage and will take time to refill.
Normal supply is expected to be restored to most customers by 9 am on Tuesday, 2 September. However, it may take several hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network and even longer for customers on high ground or at the end of the network. Customers are being asked to be mindful of their water usage to allow supply to catch up with demand.
Alternative Water Supplies have been made available at Marlfield Village, Clerihan Village, Ardfinnan National School and Castle Carpark Cahir.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “We appreciate the patience of affected residents and businesses as our teams worked to resolve the issue and restore normal service."

Previous Updates
Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water to almost 11,500 homes and businesses across South Tipperary after high turbidity levels resulted in an interruption to the Ardfinnan Water Treatment Plant.
Customers may be experiencing no water in the following locations:
Goatenbridge, Cahir, Poulatar, Newcastle, Ballybacon, Grange, Ardfinnan, Loughryan, Loughloher, Loughtally, Marlfield, Newchapel, Rathkeevin, Inishlounaght, Nicholastown, Knocklofty, Grauige Group Water Scheme, Castlegrace, Clerihan, Poulmucka, Knockeevan, Derrygrath, Mocklerstown, Ballyhimkin, and surrounding areas in Co. Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “Flash rainfall over the weekend led to high turbidity levels which interrupted production of the water at the treatment plant. Work over the weekend ensured the plant was operating yesterday evening but further turbidity has impacted on production today, and all customers on the scheme have now been impacted as reservoirs have not had time to refill. We are working to restore normal supply as soon as possible and wish to apologise to everyone impacted by this outage.
Alternative Water Supplies have been made available at Marlfield Village, Clerihan Village. Further alternative water supplies will be made available at Ardfinnan National School and Castle Carpark Cahir.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
