Water supply restored to majority of Uisce Éireann customers in Donegal following storm Amy
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water supply has been restored to the majority of customers in Donegal whose supply was impacted by storm Amy.
There was a key focus on Inishowen, Lifford Convoy, Raphoe and Castlefinn where the storm had the greatest national impact with an estimated 4,000 homes experiencing disruptions.
Uisce Éireann’s, Regional Operations Manager, Anthony Skeffington said: “The majority of customers now have water restored. We had our incident management process in place before storm Amy hit, along with crews mobilised to maintain and restore supplies. We also deployed mobile and fixed generators to restore power and restore plants to production. The crews worked tirelessly to address supply disruptions and to get water back to our customers.”
He said crews are focused on the last remaining catchment regions with supply disruptions which includes:
• The Haw, Lifford
• Fintown
• Ramelton
• Rathmullen
• Kerrykeel
• Leghawny/Cullionboy
It can take 2-3 hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network, particularly for those properties on high ground or at the end of the network. Homes and businesses are also being asked to be mindful of their water usage to allow supply to catch up with demand.
