Uisce Éireann advises of supply disruptions in Cashel this afternoon

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply is returning to normal levels in Cashel this morning following the successful repair of a mechanical issue at the Springmount Water Treatment Plant and a subsequent major burst on the trunk main from the plant.

The outage impacted customers in Cashel town and the surrounding areas.

Supply is returning to the network, but full restoration will take time. Customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience delays.

Pierce Faherty, Uisce Éireann Water Treatment Operations Manager for Tipperary, said, “Normal water supply has been restored for most customers, though those on higher ground or at the end of the network may still experience delays as the network fully recharges. We encourage everyone to continue conserving water, as reservoir levels remain critically low following the outage. We understand the inconvenience caused by an unplanned outage and thank customers for their patience and support.”

Alternative water supplies will remain in place for today and will be available at Cashel Rugby Club and at Our Lady’s Hospital, Cashel. Customers are advised to bring their own containers to take water and are advised to boil the water before consumption as a precaution.

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann customers in Cashel may experience some disruptions to their water supply this afternoon.

This is a result of a mechanical issue at the Springmount WTP this morning, which has caused an interruption to normal operations. Areas of Cashel town and surrounding environs will experience water outages as a result of this interruption.

Uisce Éireann crews are working to address the issue at the plant and it is estimated that normal supply will return for affected customers by 10am tomorrow morning. Some customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may not have full supply restored until later on Monday.

Alternative water supplies are being made available for affected customers. These will be available from 1pm at Cashel Rugby Club and at Our Lady’s Hospital, Cashel.

Customers are advised to bring their own containers to take water, and are also advised to boil the water before consumption as a precaution.

Pierce Faherty, Uisce Éireann Water Treatment Operations Manager for Tipperary, assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue,” said Pierce.
