Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is happy to report that the Duleek to Navan Trunk Water Main Project and the associated permanent road reinstatement works are progressing very well. The new water main will ultimately safeguard water supply to homes and businesses in Navan.
As part of the next phase of works, Uisce Éireann would like to inform the public that it intends to temporarily close the R153 in Co Meath from the R153/R150 Junction in Kentstown to the R153/R147 junction in Navan.
The road closure period extends from 7am on Monday, 28 July to 7pm on Friday, 22 August 2025 for permanent road reinstatement works.
Local signposted diversions will be in place. At all times, local and emergency access will be maintained to properties along the route. Access for residents, businesses and property holders will be facilitated throughout the closure period and residents have been informed.
This road closure will not come into effect until the R153 from Kentstown to Balrath Crossroads has been reopened.
Uisce Éireann’s William McKnight said, “We would like to thank the community for their continued patience and cooperation as we deliver this essential infrastructure for Navan and apologise for any inconvenience these necessary works may cause.”
“This critical infrastructure will maintain supply in the event of planned or unplanned disruptions at the Liscarton Water Treatment Plant and will support development in an area that has seen unprecedented growth in recent years,” he said.
The Duleek to Navan Trunk Watermain project is one of a number of strategically important projects to increase the security and resilience of drinking water supply across County Meath.
The provision of this new 16km trunk watermain and pumping station will create a strategic link between the Staleen Water Treatment Plant Network, at a point just south of Duleek, and the Proudstown and Carn Hill Reservoirs which provide treated water storage for Navan.
This project will support current and future growth, including the delivery of housing, by improving the resilience and security of drinking water supply.
A dedicated Community Liaison Officer (CLO) remains on the ground, actively engaging with residents and stakeholders to provide updates on traffic management and project progress.
Coffey Construction is working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver this essential project.
