Road closure to facilitate permanent road reinstatement works on Duleek to Navan trunk water main
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is happy to report that the Duleek to Navan Trunk Water Main Project is progressing very well. The new trunk main will safeguard water supply to homes and businesses in Navan.
As part of the next phase of works, permanent road reinstatement works will now commence. In order to facilitate these works a temporary road closure will be in place on the L1610 between Bolies Little & N2 at Balrath from 7am on Monday, 23 June until 7pm on Friday, 11 July.
Local signposted diversions will be in place. At all times, local and emergency access will be maintained to properties along the route. Access for residents, businesses and property holders will be facilitated throughout the closure period and residents have been informed.
A dedicated Community Liaison Officer (CLO) is working on the ground and will continue to engage with the local community to keep locals up to date on traffic management systems. Further information can be found on our project webpage Duleek to Navan Trunk Watermain | News | Uisce Éireann (formerly Irish Water) which is updated regularly.
We apologise for any inconvenience this necessary work causes, and we would like to thank the community for their continued patience and cooperation while we deliver this essential project for Navan.
Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, William McKnight said, “The new 16km regional trunk water main and pumping station will create a strategic link between the Staleen Water Treatment Plant Network, at a point just south of Duleek, and the Proudstown and Carn Hill reservoirs which provide treated water storage for Navan. This new water main will maintain a water supply to Navan if there is any planned or unplanned disruption at Navan’s Liscarton Water Treatment Plant and importantly support social and economic growth in an area that has seen unprecedented growth in recent years.”
Uisce Éireann is responsible for delivering public drinking water and wastewater services for the people of Ireland. We are committed to enabling communities to thrive by continuously upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support sustainable growth and development, providing safe drinking water, and enhancing the environment.
