Uisce Éireann’s James O’Hagan thanked residents and businesses for their support while repair works were underway.
“The burst identified was significant, and crews worked from 10pm last night to carry out repair works and reinstate the road surface before the working day began this morning.”
Following repairs, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Previous Updates
Uisce Éireann is planning to carry out repairs to a burst on a major watermain supplying 2000 customers in Drogheda. To facilitate these works, a water outage is necessary.
Crews have identified a burst on a trunk watermain which is located at the junction of Donore Road and George’s Street.
To limit the impact on the community, repair works will take place from 10pm this evening until 6am tomorrow Tuesday, 26 August, and will result in supply disruptions for Uisce Éireann customers in Drogheda town centre, West Street, Wellington Quay, Dominick Street, Stockwell Street, Dyer Street, Shop Street, St Laurence Street, Marsh Road, North Quay, Cord Road, Greenhills, Newfoundwell Road, Termonabbey, Ashton Village, Newtownstalaban, Baltray, Termonfeckin village and surrounding areas.
Traffic management will be in place on Donore Road and George’s Street from 8pm this evening to ensure the safety of the public and the crew carrying out the repair.
Uisce Éireann’s James O’Hagan said: “The burst identified earlier today on the Donore trunk main is significant, however we understand the disruption that would be caused for businesses and residents if we were to shut off water supply and repair the burst during working hours on a very busy intersection. We are able to maintain water supply for customers until this evening, and crews will complete the works as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply. We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by a planned outage and we thank customers in advance for their patience while we carry out these essential works.”
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
