Repairs complete and supply returning to Athenry area

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Repairs are now complete on a water main which burst at Carnmore in Co Galway late last night, and water supply is returning to affected customers.

Uisce Éireann crews have successfully repaired the burst main, which had impacted on water supply to customers in Athenry, Moorpark, Clarinbridge, Kilcolgan, Slievefinn, Castlelambert, Carnmore West, Cashla and Castleleen Cartymore, as well as group water schemes in Carnmore, Cashla, Tyrone and Moorpark.

Repairs were complete at approximately 2pm and water supply in affected areas is returning to normal.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Uisce Éireann’s Ger Greally thanked customers for their patience while crews worked to replace the burst main. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while works were ongoing,” said Ger.
