Uisce Éireann is progressing plans to upgrade the water supply infrastructure at Drumconrath, Co Meath. The upgrade to Drumconrath Water Treatment Plant will involve the inclusion of a new raw water source for the Drumconrath Water Treatment Plant, at a groundwater well site located in Posseckstown.
The project will enable replacement of the existing unsustainable water source and provide an upgrade to the treatment facilities at Drumconrath which currently supplies over 1,200 customers in the surrounding area.
This multi-million Euro investment will safeguard water supply for homes and businesses in Drumconrath and surrounding areas. The current water scheme is included on the Environmental Protection Agency's Remedial Action List (RAL), which identifies water supplies that need improvement.
Welcoming the significant benefits these works will bring to the Drumconrath area, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, John McElwaine, said, “The upgrade works carried out as part of this project will ensure a secure and resilient water supply to Drumconrath and surrounding areas. The works will also ensure compliance with current drinking water quality regulations and will enable social and economic growth in the area.”
The development will consist of a new rising main to convey raw water from the new source to the upgraded water treatment plant.
The development of upgrades to the existing WTP at Drumconrath, to adequately treat the raw water to deliver 1,000 m³/day of potable water which is consistently in compliance with the current drinking water regulations.
Coffey Construction Ltd will carry out the works on behalf of Uisce Eireann with construction works to commence in the coming months.
Traffic management plans will be published in advance.
