Planned overnight outage for customers in Blackrock, Dromiskin and Castlebellingham
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is carrying out essential works to the water network in the mid Louth area. To facilitate these works, a water outage is necessary.
The works will take place from 9pm on Wednesday, 17 September to 3am on Thursday, 18 September and may result in supply disruptions for over 5,000 Uisce Éireann customers in Blackrock, Old Dublin Road, Golf Links Road, Rock Road, Coast Road, Seafield Road, Cocklehill Road, Haggardstown, Earlsfort, The Loakers, Marlbog Road, Chapel Road, Mooretown, Commons Road, Dromiskin, Dromea Road, Castlebellingham and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann’s Sinéad Kennedy has assured affected customers that crews will complete the works as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply. “We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by a planned outage and we thank customers in advance for their patience while we carry out these essential works.”
Typically, it takes two to three hours following an outage for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network. When water supply returns some customers may notice discoloured water. In the event of discolouration, running the cold kitchen tap for several minutes - we recommend up to 20 minutes - will usually restore the water to a clear colour. Updates on this work can be found on the Uisce Éireann Supply and Service map by entering the following reference number in the search bar on water.ie: LOU00098751.
