Overnight restrictions in Castlecomer area necessary to ensure daytime supply
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in the Castlecomer area that overnight supply restrictions are required to conserve water and maintain a daytime supply.
Starting tonight, overnight restrictions will be in place from 9pm until 9am, until further notice. Homes and businesses are being asked to be mindful of their water usage to allow the supply to catch up with demand and enable water levels to replenish.
Customers in the following areas may experience interruptions to supply, discolouration, or reduced pressure during these times: Clogh, Ardra, Massford, Moneenroe, Coolbawn and Castlecomer.
We understand the impact water loss has on homes and businesses, and every effort is being made to limit the duration of these restrictions.
Customers should allow 3-4 hours after the estimated restoration time for the supply to return fully.
Speaking about the restrictions, Uisce Éireann’s Shane Aylward said: “Following recent heavy rainfall, the quality of raw water entering the treatment plant has been impacted, making it more challenging to maintain production levels. These restrictions are necessary to ensure a consistent water supply during daytime hours. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely thank the community for their patience and cooperation.”
Customers can find useful water saving tips on the Conserve webpage. This also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator so you can work out how much water you are currently saving and how to conserve even more.
Uisce Éireann is committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7, and we encourage customers to engage with us through our website, X channels @IWCare and @IrishWater, on Facebook and LinkedIn and through our customer care helpline, which is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
