Uisce Éireann is commencing a project to upgrade the wastewater infrastructure in Glanmire to cater for the growth and development of the area.

Works to upgrade the existing wastewater pumping station at Glanmire Bridge will commence later this month, as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development Programme.

Speaking about the project, Uisce Éireann’s Lisa Cogan said “This significant investment will increase the capacity of the wastewater infrastructure in Glanmire, to meet the demand for wastewater services in the community. When complete, residents and businesses in Glanmire will benefit from a higher performing wastewater network, which will also enable the delivery of future developments and essential housing.”

The required upgrades at Glanmire Bridge wastewater pumping station include the installation and commissioning of new pumps, testing and commissioning of an existing rising main, and all ancillary works.

Geda Construction are working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver the project, which is expected to be complete by summer 2025. Works will be confined to the existing pump station site which is accessed from the East Cliff Road adjacent to the Glashaboy Estuary. Advance site access signage will be in place on East Cliff Road.

Uisce Éireann understands that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works may cause. Standard working hours are 7:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
