Good news for Granard as works begin to futureproof water supply

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Customers in Granard can look forward to a more secure and reliable water supply as Uisce Éireann begins essential upgrade works in the town next week.

As part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme, Uisce Éireann has prioritised the replacement of 665 metres of ageing water mains on Dublin Street (N55) from the Granard Business Park to the junction at Church Street. This investment will not only improve water quality in Granard but will provide a more secure and reliable water supply for the town with reduced leakage of treated water into the ground.

Uisce Éireann’s Portfolio Manager, Dave Murphy, is looking forward to delivering the project for customers in the local communities: “This essential work is part of an investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across County Longford, prioritising investment where it is needed most.

“It is Uisce Éireann’s second major upgrade works in Granard in 2025 and follows the replacement of over 400m of old mains with new pipes in Colmcille Terrace earlier this year, showing our continued dedication to the town and Longford as a whole.”

Shareridge are carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann and are expected to be completed later in 2025.

The Uisce Éireann Customer Contact Centre, open 24/7 on freephone 1800 278 278, is available to answer any queries. Further information is available on www.water.ie
