Emergency repairs underway following burst water main in Kilkenny City
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann crews are currently working to repair a burst water main in Kilkenny City and restore supply to affected customers in Patrick Street, Callan Road, Kells Road, Tennypark, and surrounding areas.
Shane Aylward, Water Network Operations Lead at Uisce Éireann, has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.
“We understand that an unplanned outage can be inconvenient, and we appreciate all our customers for their patience and support as our crews carry out these emergency repairs. Where possible, the network is being reconfigured to minimise the impact and maintain supply to as many properties as possible. Some customers may experience low water pressure during this time, and we thank everyone for bearing with us as we work to restore full service as quickly and safely as possible.”
Repairs are expected to be completed later this evening. In most cases, it takes two to three hours after repairs are completed for normal supply to return. However, customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience a longer delay as the system recharges.
To ensure the safety of both the public and our crews, traffic management will be in place and clearly signposted.
