Crews responding to two burst mains in West Donegal

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to two separate bursts on the Na Rosann Regional Water Supply in West Donegal this morning, both of which are impacting supply to customers.

A burst has occurred on a trunk main from the Chroithlí Water Treatment Plant, causing supply disruptions to approximately 50 properties in the area this morning.

Separately, a burst has occurred on a main at Mín an Iolair which is impacting supply to the Gaoth Dobhair area. This burst is also impacting approximately 50 properties in the area.

Uisce Éireann crews are on site at both locations and have commenced their efforts to isolate and repair the burst mains. Repairs are estimated to continue until 4pm this afternoon.

Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said all efforts will be made to restore normal supplies to impacted homes and businesses as quickly as possible.

“Our crews have mobilised to the sites of these two bursts this morning and are working to restore supply to impacted customers,” said Adrian.

“We acknowledge the frustration caused by unplanned supply disruptions for our customers, and we wish to thank those impacted for their understanding as we work to repair the mains and restore supply.”

Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
