Crews complete essential repair works in Limerick City

Customers may experience temporary discolouration

Following the completion of significant repair works to a water main that caused a major burst in the city last week, Uisce Éireann is advising that some customers may be experiencing supply disruptions, loss of pressure or temporary discolouration.

Following the complex repair works, it may take up to 48 hours for normal water supply to return to customers. As normal supply returns, customers in Limerick City and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure, temporary water discolouration or intermittent disruptions to water supply. In the event of discolouration, we advise customers to run the cold kitchen tap for several minutes which will usually restore the water to a clear colour. For more information, customers can visit the Discoloured Water page.

Eoin O’Connell, Water Operations Manager in Uisce Éireann said: “Given the nature of this burst and complexities involved we are thankful that the water main has now been repaired. Notwithstanding this, over the course of the next 48 hours, some customers may experience temporary disruption or discolouration to their water supply, but our crews will be actively working to mitigate this as much as possible. I would like to extend my thanks to the impacted homes and businesses for their patience while these repair works were underway.”

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to customers in Limerick City and surrounding areas.

Following a major burst on a water main, this may result in supply interruptions and loss of pressure along the network, impacting Limerick City and surrounding areas.

Uisce Éireann crews are on site and working to return supply to normal levels for affected customers as quickly as possible, but due to the complexity of the burst, it is proving difficult to repair and may take some time for normal water supply to return to customers.

Customers may experience temporary water discolouration to their water supply because of this. For more information, customers can visit the Discoloured Water page.

Eoin O’Connell, Uisce Éireann said: “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage, and we thank customers for their support. Every effort is being made to restore a normal supply to customers as fast as possible”
