County Clare’s Water Supply Strengthened as Killaloe Water Treatment Upgrade Completed

Uisce Éireann customers in Killaloe, Co. Clare will welcome the news that the Killaloe Water Treatment Plant upgrade is complete, future proofing the local water supply for years to come.
 
An investment of over €1 million by Uisce Éireann to upgrade Killaloe Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has ensured compliance with Drinking Water Regulations, improving the drinking water quality and will now provide a safer water supply.  

This upgrade was carried out as part of the National Disinfection Programme. Disinfection is an important part of the water treatment process. The disinfection process eliminates harmful organisms in water. Elements of this process were nearing the end of their design life at Killaloe WTP, highlighting to Uisce Éireann the need for investment in this community. 

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, John Hickey, celebrates this news, saying, “1800 customers in Killaloe, Co. Clare are now promised a more secure supply for years to come. I am pleased to say the upgrade of Killaloe Water Treatment Plant is complete. The disinfection process is a critical element in the treatment of drinking water, that ensures we all have access to a safe and reliable supply.” 

Cantwell Electrical Engineering Limited have carried out these works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
