Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann crews have successfully completed emergency repair works on a significant burst water main in Kilkenny, and water supply is now returning to all affected customers.
The burst happened yesterday, Sunday, 20 July and impacted homes and businesses in Troyswood, Thornback, Threecastles, Freshford, and surrounding areas. Crews mobilised quickly and began repair works, which continued into today to ensure full restoration of supply.
Water supply has been restored, with most customers expected to see a return to normal pressure. It typically takes three to four hours for the network to fully refill and normal water supply to return fully, particularly for properties on higher ground or at the end of the network it can take longer.
Shane Aylward, Water Network Operations Lead, Uisce Éireann, said: “Our crews responded rapidly to the burst on Sunday and worked throughout the day and into today to carry out the necessary repairs. We know how disruptive unplanned outages can be, and we want to thank all affected customers for their patience and understanding while we worked to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible.”
