Bray community to benefit from improved water supply
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Residents in Raheen Park, Bray will soon benefit from a more secure and reliable water supply with Uisce Éireann set to begin network improvement works next week to reduce high levels of leakage in the area.
The works will take place on Raheen Park and Newcourt Avenue and involve the replacement of nearly 500 metres of aged cast iron watermains as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.
Nicola Butler, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, is looking forward to getting this important project underway for the community.
“Replacing these old and damaged pipes will eliminate existing leaks and reduce the amount of clean water lost into the ground. The works will also improve the operation of the network by reducing the need for frequent repairs to aged watermains. In advance of the works commencing, we would like to thank the local community for their support and patience as we carry out these essential works”
To safely and efficiently deliver this project, lane closures will be in place at Raheen Park. Short term localised road closures may also be required, and residents will be notified in advance of any closure. Local and emergency traffic will always be maintained.
GMC Utilities Group Ltd is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann with the project expected to be complete by August.
The works may involve some short-term water interruptions, and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.
Details of any supply interruptions associated to this project will be updated regularly on the Water Supply Updates section of the Uisce Éireann website. Customers can phone Uisce Éireann on 1800 278 278 with any questions about the project.
Identifying and repairing leaks will help Uisce Éireann to achieve its 2030 goal of a national leakage rate of 25%. The national Leakage Reduction team has made great strides since 2018 when the leakage rate stood at 46%.
