Letterkenny outage: Water supply returning to customers following completion of repairs

Water supply is returning to customers in Letterkenny after crews successfully repaired a major burst on a water main in Ballyraine. The network is now refilling and normal water supply is expected to return gradually over the coming hours.
The burst disrupted supply for homes and businesses in parts of Letterkenny earlier today, but with repairs now complete, our crews are continuing to monitor the network as water pressure recovers.
Providing an update, Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said: "We know how disruptive it can be for families and businesses to be without water, and we would like to thank the people of Letterkenny for their patience and understanding today while these repairs were carried out. The network is currently refilling and water supply is beginning to return to our impacted customers. It can take a number of hours for water pressure to fully recover across the network, particularly for customers located on higher ground or at the end of the network.”

Those who live or work in Letterkenny may be experiencing a loss of water supply this morning due to a major burst on a water main in the Ballyraine area of the town.
Our specialised repair crews are on site now working to repair the burst and restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in the town and surrounding areas as quickly as possible.
Providing an update from site Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said:
“The team knows how disruptive an unexpected burst can be. Our main priority this morning is fixing this burst so the network around Letterkenny can refill, and water returns to all our customers. We really appreciate everyone in the community bearing with us while our crews get water back to homes and businesses.
“It’s a large burst and we expect it will take until approximately 2pm this afternoon to fix it. Then it can take two or three hours before the system refills and normal supply is returned to everyone.”
We understand that a water outage can be more than an inconvenience for customers who rely on a continuous water supply for medical reasons. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
