Crews to carry out emergency repairs to fix major leak in Finglas

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Customers and businesses in parts of Finglas will experience disruptions to their water supply tomorrow, Saturday, 17 October, as emergency repairs are carried out on a major leak in the area.

Our crews will be on site at Kilshane Drive in Finglas South, adjacent to the Ratoath Road, tomorrow morning, with repairs due to commence at 8.00am.

Customers in Rathvilly, Deanstown, Dunsoghly, Pelletstown, Wellmount Road, Kilshane Road, Cardiffsbridge and Dunsink will experience a disruption to their supply for the duration of the repair works, while surrounding areas may experience low pressure.

Keith Conmy, Water Network Operation Manager Uisce Éireann, said:

“We understand how inconvenient an unexpected water outage can be. Our main priority is to fix this leak and prevent further disruption to the community. Every effort will be made to restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible. We really appreciate everyone in the community bearing with us while our crews work on the repair and get water back to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”

It is essential that these repairs are carried to reduce the risk of a burst on the water main. A burst would likely result in a larger, unplanned interruption to water supplies across a wider area and could have a more significant impact on local communities and businesses.

Repairs are expected to be completed by 7.00pm tomorrow, Saturday. Once repairs have been completed, water supplies will return gradually over the following hours. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the water network refills.

To keep our crews and the public safe while repairs are underway, traffic management measures will be in place from 7.00am and clearly signposted. We thank local residents and road users for their cooperation.

Supporting customers, especially those who may be more vulnerable during service interruptions, remains a priority. Registered vulnerable customers receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
