Supply returning to customers in Cloonfad following completion of repairs
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water supply is returning to customers in Cloonfad after crews successfully repaired a burst on a water main in the village. The network is now refilling and normal water supply will return gradually over the coming hours.
The burst disrupted supply for homes and businesses in parts of Cloonfad this morning, but with repairs now complete, our crews are continuing to monitor the network as water pressure recovers.
Providing an update, Ger Greally of Uisce Éireann said: “We recognise that the repeated interruptions to the water supply have been difficult for the Cloonfad community, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Our priority is to reduce the impact on customers wherever possible, while continuing the mains replacement programme that will help improve the reliability of the local water network.
“We sincerely appreciate the patience shown by customers throughout these disruptions. Water is now making its way back through the network following the repairs completed this afternoon. It will take some time for the system to fully recharge, so normal pressure may return more gradually for customers in elevated areas or at the extremities of the network.”
We are committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7 and we encourage customers to engage with us through our website, X channel @IWCare, and through our customer care helpline, which is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.

Previous Updates
Work is underway to restore normal water supply to customers in Cloonfad following a burst water main in the village this morning.
Crews are on site carrying out repairs and every effort is being made to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible.
Ger Greally, Uisce Éireann’s Water Treatment Operations Manager for Co Roscommon, said: "We know this supply disruption is frustrating, and we apologise to customers for the impact it is having this morning. Our immediate priority is to restore water supply to affected homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”
Repairs are expected to be completed this afternoon and water supplies will return gradually over the following hours as the network refills. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the system fully recharges.
While crews work to repair the burst and restore supply to customers today, Uisce Éireann continues to progress a crucial 5km water mains replacement project in Cloonfad aimed at addressing the underlying causes of the recurring bursts and supply disruptions in the area.
Approximately 40% of the project has now been completed, with more than 2km of old and damaged water mains already replaced. These works will help reduce the risk of future outages and deliver a more reliable water supply for the community.
Supporting customers, particularly those who may be more vulnerable during service interruptions, remains a priority. Registered vulnerable customers receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
We are committed to keeping customers informed throughout the repair works. Customers can receive local updates by signing up to our free text alert service using their Eircode and mobile number. Updates are also available through our website, social media channels and customer care team, which is available 24 hours a day on 1800 278 278.
