Memoranda of Understanding
Uisce Éireann also has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Water Services Training Group ("WSTG"). Uisce Éireann will continue to fund the training of staff employed within the water services sections of local authorities working under the Service Level Agreement with Uisce Éireann.
Master Co-operation Agreements and support services agreements
A Master Co-operation Agreement (MCA) came into operation with the 31 City and County Councils in 2023 which provides for Uisce Éireann to have full accountability for Water Services Functions and for Uisce Éireann to have the necessary Management and Direction of Local Authority Water Services Staff. This move was part of the Government’s framework for the Future Delivery of Water Services which involves the transfer of water services and staff from all local authorities. The MCA also provides that Uisce Éireann and each Local Authority enter into a Support Services Agreement (SSA), setting out the support services which the Local Authority has agreed to provide Uisce Éireann in support of the delivery of Water Services Functions and the period over which these will transition to Uisce Éireann. Prior to the operation of each MCA (and SSA for support services), there was a Service Level Agreement in place with the 31 City and County Councils which detailed the services that were provided to Uisce Éireann.
